ADVANCE ABSENCE NOTIFICATION PROGRAM - SAFE ARRIVAL PROGRAM
LANCASTER DRIVE PUBLIC SCHOOL
This program may have the potential of alerting a parent/guardian to the NON- ARRIVAL at school of a student who is expected to arrive and may reduce truancy. In continuing the program the Limestone District School Board for its part undertakes to use its best efforts to notify parents/guardians of the absence of a child from school. The school authorities will, as far as possible, keep track of absences in the event of a student being absent without notification, the school staff will attempt to contact the parent(s)/guardian(s)of the absent student. For their part the parent/guardians of the child in the program AGREE to notify the school IN ADVANCE of the absence of their son/daughter from school. If a pupil is to be absent, advise the school by:
1). Sending a note to the homeroom teacher with sibling, relative, friend or neighbour before the beginning of school
in the morning and/or afternoon.
2. Sending a note a day or more in advance for hospitalization, trips, appointments, etc. indicating a date of return
to school and days to be absent. Report any change of plans to the school.
Sending a note regarding regular lates or dismissals indicating date and time, eg. piano lessons.
Telephoning the school 634-0470 press 1 between 11:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. (voice mail) or for an afternoon
absence between 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
It is understood and agreed that no obligation arises on either party as a result or failure to contact the other party whatever cause. The school may withdraw family participation due to consistent lack of family-to-school contact.
