School Update
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that March is here! We were challenged last week with some slippery conditions on our school yard which required some changes at recess times for student safety. This weather, while presenting some ups and downs also means that a new season is around the corner!
Looking ahead into March we have some exciting events happening at Lancaster. A school-wide Read-a-thon is set to begin later in the month which will focus on encouraging the love and adventure found in reading for students. This is a great time to enjoy some shared reading opportunities with your children at home as a family or perhaps some 1:1 time. Your child will remember these moments. We encourage picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, e-books and videos of favourite authors sharing their stories. You can read to your child, you can take turns, or sit back and have your child read to you - all of these reading minutes will count! Look for more information as the dates get closer.
We will also be inviting our Lancaster community to a Frontenacs game on Sunday March 27th! We will have a section reserved for our school and families are able to share our link to invite family and friends to enjoy the game. We have had great success with this event in past years!
We will also be engaging with Plantables again this year. Many families placed orders last year and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. You can start planning your garden now and set delivery dates when you are ready. These also make great gifts for families or friends that may live a distance away as the company delivers throughout Ontario. We have included the link in this newsletter and will ensure it is available all the way up to planting time.
Here to another great week ahead!
Your leaders in learning,
Lani Fox and Sara O'Hearn

KFL&A Masking Protocol Changes for LDSB
KFL&A has updated the masking protocol for schools. Students are no longer required to wear masks when they are outdoors and in their cohorts. This means that when students are outside with their class cohorts for phys. ed or for recess, they do not have to keep their masks on.
A reminder that arrival and dismissal times have many students crossing different areas of the yard to get to their cohort lineup spots. Students should keep their masks on until they get to their designated lineup with their class cohort. Masks are still required indoors and on school transportation. Staff will remind students to put their masks on prior to entering the school building and prior to boarding a school
