School Update
Dear Families,
We have many initiatives happening this month that show the generous spirit of our students, our parents, and our staff. Staff continue to offer their time at lunch and after school to meet with, and grow, our student ministries. Students have been energized by this ability to take on leadership within our building. It is evident that our sense of community, caring and spirit are strengthened by focusing on a collective goal or sharing in an event together.
SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL UPDATE
Our School Advisory Council has also been hard at work with our MaxSold fundraiser. Families and staff have found items to contribute to the upcoming auction. Parents from your SAC executive have dedicated time on weekends to collect and catalogue items for this initiative. Thank you to our school community for your support! Details about when the auction goes live will be shared soon.
UPCOMING BREAK
In these last two weeks of school before the break we often see energies and emotions ebb and flow as the winter break approaches. Students and families experience and celebrate this holiday season in different ways. Adults and children can feel excitement, stress, sadness and anticipation. Be in tune with each other and recognize with your child that all of these emotions are okay and validated. Keep routines when you can and allow flexibility when needed to help absorb these different emotions, it's okay to slow things down.
HOT LUNCH AND MILK ORDERS
Milk orders have been sent out to families on Friday December 3rd with an option to purchase milk every day or milk only on Tuesdays (hot lunch days). Please check your school day account. If you did not receive an email notifying you please adjust your settings in your School Day account to receive notifications or check your "junk/other" mail. Hot lunch orders will be coming out this week for January-March. Orders must be completed online by December 15th.
NEW SCREENING TOOL
KFL&A Public Health has provided a new screening tool for students and families. Please pay particular attention to symptoms, and be diligent over these next two weeks, so that we can all head into the winter break as healthy as possible. We have done a tremendous job at Lancaster and thank our families for their support, and their care for student well-being.
It is important that all students continue to be screened every day using the online active screening tool:

Please keep your children home when indicated and follow Public Health directives to get tested: we continue to work hard at the school to ensure that students are being vigilant about adhering to Covid protocols, and appreciate families doing their part as well.
Your leaders in learning,
Lani Fox and Sara O'Hearn

Our Minstry of Caring are our Leaders in Caring! Check out their next project!
Dear Lancaster Families
This year our Ministry of Caring leaders have chosen to support Interval House for our holiday campaign. Kingston Interval House is a local agency in Kingston, Ontario that provides 24-hour safe emergency shelter, community-based counselling services and Second Stage Housing to women, youth and children who have experienced violence.
The Ministry of Caring team is hoping, with everyone's help, to be able to put together gift boxes for the women and children living at the shelter, and possibly some of their outreach clients (the waiting list for shelter beds is long).
Classes that are participating will receive a letter to send home to families tomorrow. Each class will be asked to contribute a specific item, and then the caring ministry will put together and wrap the boxes. If families would prefer sending a gift card instead of an item, there will be a list of the most useful gift cards.
The collection period is from Monday, November 29th to Friday, December 10th (the next two weeks). We will bring around baskets or boxes to classes on Monday to store the items, then we will gather them on Friday, December 10th. Ministry of Caring leaders will come around for a brief visit to classrooms (at the door) on Monday and Tuesday to generate excitement and explain the campaign.
CANDY CANES SALES:
The Ministry of Spirit and Ministry of Caring are working together on the candy cane sales this year. The proceeds from this event will also go towards Interval House.
WINTER WARMTH: MITTENS, HATS AND SCARVES:
Finally, our Winter Warmth campaign will also support this campaign, as some of the items collected will be warm mittens, scarves and hats.
Thanks for your kind support of this student-led project. ❤️
