School Update
This week, we recognize November 8th - Indigenous Veterans Day, and November 11th - Remembrance Day. In a virtual service on November 11th, we will pause to remember and thank all the members of the Canadian Armed Forces who have given so much in service to our country. Our Legion partners have provided poppies that we will distribute to our students. Parents may wish to send a loonie donation with your child to support the Legion's Poppy campaign.
Under the guidance of Ms. O'Hearn, our teacher candidates have organized some outdoor games for students. Candidates will lead a game for the 30-minute Junior /Intermediate lunch recess and primary classes during morning recess. A great way to facilitate learning about good sportsmanship and get more students involved in outdoor play.
Thanks to Ms. Cattermole and parent volunteers Ms. Slovitt and Ms. Richard and teacher candidates our library is now open for student use! Thank you for all of your work in reviving and re-organizing this space after it has been rested and used as a classroom over the last two years. Students are excited to once again enjoy the rich resources and books that our library has to offer.
Parking Etiquette:
Families are reminded that when parking on side streets close to the school that it is essential that we are good neighbours. We build and share a wider school community together. Please ensure that you are abiding by parking rules, are not blocking driveways and your vehicle is not creeping onto the lawns of our neighbours. Overcrowding streets with too many vehicles creates barriers to visibility which puts student safety at risk. The best formula for our community is to empower your older children to walk or bike to school, set up walking buddies, and always provide your family enough time for safe transit in the morning. Rushed timeframes lead to unsafe situations and generate stress for all. Clocks were set back this weekend so this might be a good time to also change alarms to allow for that extra 10 minutes of time.
Your leaders in learning,
Lani Fox and Sara O'Hearn
