School Update
This past week was filled with lots of learning and activity within the building. A big thank you to Ms. McDougall, Mr. Bruder, and Ms. Jarbeau for their planning for our Terry Fox event and fundraising. The link in this newsletter remains live for families who have not yet donated to the Canadian Cancer Foundation. The school-wide event was cheered on by our Mascot and accompanied by energizing music as classes made their way into the neighbourhood.
Classes also engaged in intentional learning this week related to Orange Shirt Day and our shared journey of Truth and Reconciliation. In age-appropriate ways, we explored the history and ongoing story of the lives lost, the important legacy, and the continued indigenous contributions being made today. We commit to honouring the stories throughout the year by listening and learning together.
The smiles and cheers could be heard across the city and at Lancaster as our athletes participated in Race Around the Park and the LESAA Soccer Tournaments at John Machin fields. The energy that surrounded these teams was supportive, competitive and motivating. Seeing students enjoying a collective experience and sharing in the moments that sport and competition bring reinforces all we know about how much schools offer in terms of life learning and building humanity. We look forward to bringing future opportunities like this, and in other extra-curricular areas beyond sport, as we continue in the school year.
Your leaders in learning,
Lani Fox and Sara O'Hearn

MILK AND HOT LUNCH
Milk orders have been sent out to families via a School Day email. Signing up through this online portal will allow your child to receive milk daily from Tuesday, October 12 until the start of the Holiday Break in December. Milk is delivered daily to classrooms at the start of second nutrition break. As this program is a fundraiser for the school and it is coordinated by a Grade 6 class, on days when students are absent, no refund is provided and milk is not saved for the student. Hot Lunch orders are being organized and should be sent out later in October.
