March Mathness

For the next two weeks we will be having a school wide math focus on building math fluency skills, with each class participating in the challenge of completing 15 minutes of mathematics fluency practice each day. We are grateful to Mrs. Tidman and Ms. Smith for their leadership in this school wide initiative.

We will also be having some fun school wide challenges with daily math riddles, estimation jars and spirit days. We encourage Lancaster families to extend the challenge to practice math fluency skills at home.

Some suggestions include:

  • Practicing basic facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Playing math games such as card games, dice games, or board games that involve counting and strategy
  • Using everyday situations to practice math, such as cooking, shopping, or telling time
  • Trying online math fluency games and apps for extra practice
  • Challenging your child with quick mental math questions during car rides or daily routines

Thank you for supporting your child’s learning and helping to build strong math fluency skills! We look forward to sharing the learning over the next couple of weeks!

Spring Plant Sale and Garden Refresh

As we welcome the arrival of spring, we are excited to begin seed planting for our annual Spring Plant Sale. This event is a highlight of the Spring season and something our students eagerly anticipate each year.

To help make this year’s sale a success, we are kindly requesting donations of potting soil and seeds. Your contributions will help reduce startup costs and ensure that more of the funds raised can go directly toward supporting the Lancaster community.

For those that like to plan ahead we anticipate that the Spring Plant Sale will be scheduled for the end of May or the first week of June.

Wish List:

  • Potting soil & seed starting potting mix
  • Vegetable seeds (e.g., cucumber, zucchini, tomato, beans, watermelon-not root vegtable seeds)
  • Annual flower seeds (e.g., calendula, zinnia, cosmos)

For the front flower beds, we are also looking for flower seeds that can be directly sown in early spring as well as birch branches that families may have from their winter planters.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the many families who have generously contributed to the care and beautification of our front flower beds—through planting spring bulbs, weeding, and designing themed planters. These efforts, along with the Spring Plant Sale, have fostered a strong sense of pride and connection within the Lancaster community.

Jr. Ministry of Caring

A huge thank you to Mrs. Tidman and the Junior Ministry of Caring for all of their hard work in organizing the school-wide Olympics challenge! Your dedication and effort truly made this such a fun and meaningful experience for Lancaster Lions! The Junior Ministry and Mrs. Tidman consistently go above and beyond to make Lancaster such an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive school community.

Outdoor Equipment

As families being to clean out your garages and backyard play areas this spring, we are looking for donations of gently used outdoor equipment to support active play during recess and to reuse and recycle previously loved items!

We are looking to replenish classroom recess equipment, and would greatly appreciate items such as soccer balls, basketballs, frisbees, utility balls, jump ropes, and footballs.

Thank you for helping keep our students active and engaged during recess time!

*A bin will be set up in the front foyer where items can be dropped off over the coming weeks.

Kindergarten Registration and Out of Boundary Registration

Do you have a child ready to start Kindergarten this September? If your child is four- or five-years-old by the end of December (2026), now is the time to register. Limestone offers Kindergarten in both English and French Immersion—where 85% of instruction is in French—plus a strong focus on the core skills of reading, writing, and math. With greater choice in schools and future programming, your child can discover a sense of belonging, while learning the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. For more information, please visit limestone.on.ca/kindergarten.

In Limestone, students may be permitted to attend any school within the board when there is available student space, upon submission and approval of the proper application. Please note only one application per student can be processed; please do not submit more than one application for multiple school locations. If multiple applications are submitted, families will be contacted to select which school application they would like processed, and all other applications will be removed from the system.

The board is not responsible for the provision of any transportation for students outside of their regular school boundary area. This applies to both students within Limestone’s geographic boundaries (out of boundary), and students who live outside of those boundaries (out of district).

To find the name and location of your in-boundary or home school(s), enter the student’s home address into Tri-Board's Locate A School tool.
